what are the benefits of a fractional cco?

What is a Chief Change Officer?

A CCO sits within the executive leadership and is responsible for leading and overseeing change across the organisation. This usually resolves around involvement in significant transformational programmes to meet strategic aims but the role of the CCO is to also help empower those within the organisation to have a voice that can contribute to the continual improvement of the organisation

Finding compromise and removing barriers sits at the heart of the CCO's activities and this is only possible when a company decides to embrace change and continual improvement by recognising that there is a need for change leadership on the executive team.

Recognising that each organisation has different needs is crucial to the CCO's success and at Metavallo, we can provide CCO resource that in addition to executive leadership will perform a range of services such as:

  • Change Leadership
  • Change Strategy
  • Delivery Execution
  • Cultural Transformation
  • Performance Evaluation

There are so many more activities that could fall in the CCO's remit and their teams, each organisation's need is different, so why not contact us to explore how a CCO can benefit your organisation.

Fractional Leadership - When you only want a slice of the pie!

Fractional leadership allows an organisation to recruit or contract with a top-tier resource on a flexible or reduced hours basis without the significant overheads associated with employing them full time.

Organisations want flexible, cost-effective and scalable resource models in today's busy work environment, yet the challenges of bringing in value-add resources can be a barrier that many cannot overcome on a traditional full time employment model. This issue is amplified as you seek resources in the higher echelons of the corporate ladder.

We are big supporters of fractional leadership, it can benefit an organisation in many ways

  • Allows start-up and smaller organisations to temporarily gain access to talent they would not otherwise be able to afford, attract or retain
  • Provides flexible, scalable leadership that is often available in short notice and can hit the ground running but without the overall cost of a full time equivalent
  • Drives efficiency of meetings, conversations and actions as the resources are only available for a limited amount of time each period
  • Generates diversity of thought as often fractional leaders can have different backgrounds, viewpoints and experiences to the organisation's full time employees
  • They're specialists in what they do, often with a clear goal and end date agreed prior to onboarding

Metavallo's Fractional Chief Change Officer Service

We can offer a range of options to suit your needs when enquiring about our fractional leadership.

Common options for sourcing fractional leadership change depending on the need:

For Executive Leadership, building organisational capabilities and change then we would recommend

  • A percentage of the working week i.e. 3 days - These should be fixed days, best combined together such as Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Our experience of splitting them across non-sequential days often results in delays and a loss of momentum in conversations.
  • A fixed amount of full time weeks i.e. 4, 8, 12, 24 weeks - moving beyond 24 weeks should only be undertaken if there is a specific programme of deliverables that stretch over a longer period of time.
  • Fractional Leadership retainers can also be agreed for a non-refundable recurring fee that will provide access to the resource at short notice to provide guidance or attend meetings subject to pre-agreed criteria

Where specific outputs exist such as Strategy Creation, Capability Reviews or Turnaround Interventions, we can also consider

  • Fixed price contracts based on the production of artefacts by an agreed date

As with all our services, we would encourage a conversation so that together we can find the right solution for your organisation.
